Genex Systems contracted with BMS to provide high resolution Echo Scope data of the W2 and W6 piers of the San Francisco Bay bridge in an ongoing effort to certify imaging sonar as a bridge inspection tool. BMS mobilized the Echo Scope integrated with a Coda F-185 inertial positioning system aboard the S/V Eaglet in order to produce high-resolution images of the bridge towers. This data collected will be compared to past bridge inspection reports in order to develop a specification for sonar based bridge inspections. It should be noted that the Echo Scope data collection took 1 day while the diving took about 6 days.
In order to assess the viability of Echo Scope data for the Sonar / ROV imaging portion of the tender and as a side scan verification tool BMS mobilized the Echo Scope integrated with a Coda F-185 inertial positioning system aboard the S/V Eaglet in order to produce high resolution images of the of the Trans Bay cable as it crosses the PG&E pipeline near KP 30. This test data showed even from the surface the ACM armor mats,
PG&E pipeline and a possible cable exposure.
Bay Marine Services has provided surveysupportservicesfor Transbay Cable starting in 2007 that have included side scan surveys for post lay burial verification, vessel and equipment services. Services are as follows:

Bay Marine Services has provided high-resolution sweep surveys in order to assess the hydrologic changes to the Lower Novato Creek for 2008 to 20015. In order to provide high resolution shallow water data BMS mobilized our Ross 875-5 five channel sweep system integrated with out Coda F-185 motion and position system aboard the S/V Otter. The Ross system produces 5×5 gridded data in water depths as shallow as four feet.

BMS provided vessel support services to Manson Construction and the dredge Bayport for in both San Francisco and Humboldt, CA Services included Daily Multi-beam data collection, crew boat services, and stores services.
Bay Marine Services provided custom dredge positioning and sweep survey services to Camenzind Dredging for the placement of
400,000 cy of material in the Oakland Middle Harbor Enhancement Area. Services included collaboration on the design and construction of a custom built fill barge and grade control system and high resolution sweep surveys to verify the grade left by the fill barge.
BMS provided dredge project management, surveying, and dredge positing services for the dredgingof 27,000 CY of radiation impacted materials, transport by barge, and barge offloading.Responsibilities included job planning / scheduling, layout of work, creation of dredge templates andhiring crew. In addition BMS provided the S/V Beaver equipped with a Reason 7101 High resolutionMulti Beam, Coda F-180 Attitude and Position Sensor and Topcon RTK to provide daily qualitycontrol surveys. The surveys were used to monitor dredge progress.
Castro Cove Lagoon consisted of hydraulic dredging 60,000 cy of contaminated material, capping the dredged area with a 30,000 cy sand cap, and a 30,000 cy mud cap. Bay Marine Services worked closely with both the URS the design engineers, and Chevron the owner to build a hydraulic sand placement and delivery system specifically designed for the job. Additionally BMS provided a custom 5 channel Ross sweep system to provide high resolution surveys in order to evaluate cap thickness.
Lastly, BMS performed dredge positioning and quality control services utilizing Hypackdredgepositioning, created 3 dimensional dredge templates, and performed volume computations.
